The five-minute setup
Names, date, guest count, budget, where the money's coming from. Everything else builds from this.
A Google Sheets template built around your values, not the wedding industry's averages. Align with your partner on what truly matters, then watch every dollar of your budget shape itself around your real priorities. Less guilt. Less arguing. A wedding that actually feels like you.
You've Googled "wedding budget spreadsheet." You've stared at columns with national averages. You've watched the totals creep past what you can actually spend, and your stomach has dropped at least three times.
Here's the thing... every generic wedding budget out there starts with the same question: what does the average couple spend?
That's the wrong question.
The wedding industry has spent years convincing you that you need a $5,000 photographer, a $15,000 venue, custom calligraphy invitations, and a signature cocktail named after your dog. And if you can't afford all that, well, you must not be doing it right.
We're calling that out. Because the truth is, the average couple isn't you. They don't have your values, your relationship, your priorities, or your bank account.
What you actually need is a budget built backwards. Start with what genuinely matters to you and your partner. Then let the dollars follow.
What does the average couple spend on a wedding?
What actually matters to us — and what's it worth?
It's a Google Sheets template. Yes. But it's not just a spreadsheet.
We built it after eighteen years of watching couples blow their budget on things they didn't actually care about, and skimp on the things that would have mattered most. Couples who fought about money because they'd never had the conversation about what each of them really valued. Couples who looked at their final receipts and wondered, what was all that for?
The Blueprint solves that. Here's how.
You and your partner each rank what matters to you in private — no peeking, no influencing each other. The spreadsheet combines your rankings, flags where you align and where you need to talk it through, and then dynamically adjusts your category budgets to match your real priorities.
Want a venue that takes your breath away but a low-key meal? Done. Want incredible food and minimal flowers? The math shifts automatically. Want every penny to go to a honeymoon you'll never forget? Cool. The tool builds the budget around you.
Every dollar gets pointed at what actually matters. Not the wedding industry's idea of "normal." Not what your in-laws expect. Not what Pinterest is whispering in your ear. Yours.
That's the difference. That's what you're investing in — a budget that finally agrees with you about what matters.
Smart starting percentages for every wedding category — but those percentages aren't fixed. They shift the moment your values exercise is complete. Your dollar targets aren't national averages. They're your priorities, in dollars.
The Blueprint isn't just about saving money. It's about making sure every dollar you spend on your wedding reflects what truly matters to you and your partner. Here's how the tool makes that possible.
Most budgets start with averages. This one starts with you. Both partners rank ten wedding-day elements. The Blueprint feeds those rankings into the math and reshapes your category percentages to match. Your top priorities get a bump. Your low priorities get trimmed. The total always renormalizes to 100%.
A budget that puts your money behind what you actually care about.
Each of you gets your own private tab to rank what matters. No peeking until you're both done. When you finally look at the combined results together, the Blueprint highlights every place where your priorities differ significantly. Pour a glass of wine and have the conversation. This is where the real wedding gets built.
For the moment when Pinterest is whispering "you NEED this" and your gut isn't sure. Type what you're considering, the cost, the category. In thirty seconds you'll see whether it fits your remaining budget, aligns with what you said matters, and what it costs per guest. Most "absolutely have to have it" purchases die quietly in this tab.
Exactly when each vendor needs to be paid, how much cumulative spend you'll have hit by each month, and whether your savings can keep up. Cash-crunch warnings light up red automatically. No more surprise "wait, we owe how much in March?"
Choosing between two photographers, three caterers, two DJs? Score each vendor 1–5 across six criteria. Weight each criteria by how much it matters to you. The Blueprint picks the winner based on the math AND your priorities — not on which vendor sent the cutest follow-up email.
Months from now, you'll fill out the Reflection tab. Seven prompts about what was worth it, what wasn't, what you'd change. You can choose to share your insights with our community to help future couples make smarter, more intentional choices.
I've dedicated my entire career to helping couples navigate the wedding planning process at The Budget Savvy Bride. Over the last eighteen years, we've helped millions of couples plan weddings without going broke via the website, book, and podcast. I built this tool the way I wish someone had built one for me when I was getting married. It's the most complete, opinionated, actually-useful wedding budget I've ever made... and the only one I know that puts your values at the center of every dollar you spend on your big day.
Open it once and start using it the same day. Every tab is designed to keep your spending pointed at what actually matters to you.
Names, date, guest count, budget, where the money's coming from. Everything else builds from this.
No peeking from your partner. This is where the alignment work begins.
Independent. Honest. A separate private tab so neither of you can influence the other.
Your combined priorities. Alignment flags. The top three things to protect at all costs.
Pre-named for you. Live dashboard. Smart percentages that shift from your values. Conditional formatting that flags overspending instantly.
Three checks in thirty seconds. Type the cost. Get a verdict. Decide on purpose.
A chronological payment schedule, automatically populated from your line items. Cash-crunch warnings included.
For your biggest decisions. The math picks the winner so you don't have to second-guess.
Seven questions to capture what you learned. Optional sharing with our community.
Take a peek at this preview video where you can see every tab to get a feel for how the Blueprint works. You'll receive a comprehensive walkthrough video from Jessica when you buy!
The Blueprint is built for Google Sheets, which is free and works in any browser. If you really want to use Excel, you can download a copy as an .xlsx file, but a few of the dynamic features (like the live countdown and the QUERY-based payment timeline) work best in Sheets. We recommend sticking with Sheets.
Not a problem. After you buy, you'll get a master template. You make a copy to your own Google Drive, then share the file with your partner using their email. Both of you can be in the same file at the same time. Each of you fills in your private ranking tab without seeing the other's.
Absolutely. From File → Share, set them to "Viewer" or "Commenter" if you don't want them changing the numbers, or "Editor" if you do. They'll see everything, but the protections we built in keep your formulas safe.
We don't, and we want you to know exactly why. Because the Blueprint is a digital product delivered instantly, all sales are final.
We've made up for that by including a preview video on this page so you can get a feel for how the Blueprint works before you buy. Watch it. Take your time. Ask yourself if it's the right tool for your wedding. When you're confident, click buy.
Instant. The moment you check out, you'll get an email with the access link. Clone it to your Google Drive and you're set up in five minutes.
Yes. The whole tool runs inside your own copy of the Google Sheet. We never see your data. Nothing gets sent anywhere. It's just a smart spreadsheet sitting in your Google Drive.
Two paths. The Blueprint has a built-in How to Use tab with a video walkthrough plus FAQs. If you're still stuck, you can email us at [email protected] and we'll walk you through it.
Free templates are blank columns you fill in. The Blueprint is a system. The values exercise alone is something no free template offers, and it's the most important step.
Free templates also don't include the Reality Check decision tool, the cash-flow projection, the vendor comparison scoring, or the conditional formatting that flags overspending automatically. You're paying for the system and the experience of someone who's spent eighteen years learning what couples actually need.
Yes. We're launching at $27. As we add testimonials, build out the community, and continue adding features, we'll be raising the price. Buying now locks you into the launch price for life.
We've built this whole page to help you decide before you buy. The preview shows you the Blueprint in action. The features section lists exactly what's included. The FAQ answers what most couples ask. By the time you reach this checkbox, you should feel confident this is the right tool for your wedding.
We do this because the Blueprint is a digital product you get instant access to the moment you check out. All sales are final. That's standard for digital downloads, and it's why we've worked hard to show you everything upfront.
By checking the box below, you're confirming you've reviewed what's on this page, you understand what's included, and you're agreeing to our all-sales-final policy.
For less than what most couples spend on a single bouquet, you can have a budget that actually reflects your priorities, a partner-alignment tool, a built-in cash-flow projection, and a vendor comparison engine. Every tool we wish we'd had when we were planning our own weddings.
